We invite you to join us in studing the Baha'i faith. Baha'i study circles, which are multiplying rapidly throughout the world, are regular gatherings of people -- Baha'is and other spiritual seekers -- interested in an in-depth and systematic study of the Baha'i Writings. The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of the Holy Word, to comprehend its meanings and to find ways to apply the Word to our lives through spiritual transformation and service to humanity.
Each study circle is based on one of seven themes in the curriculum, which is known as the Ruhi series of courses. The courses, called books, originated at the Ruhi Institute in Colombia; the content is the same no matter in what part of the world you attend a study circle. (There is no charge to attend Baha'i study circles, except for the purchase of a course book.)
Study circle topics include understanding the Baha'i writings, the importance of prayer and life after death (Ruhi Book 1), learning about the lives of the Bab and Baha'u'llah (Ruhi Book 4), and learning how to provide spiritual education to children (Ruhi Books 3 and 3A).
The frequency and duration of each study circle are set by the group, and a facilitator serves to maintain the focus and pace. Every participant in the group also makes a commitment to action or service.
An important and valuable element of the Baha'i study circles is the practice of memorizing passages from the Baha'i writings. To assist in this process, one study circle participant developed an interactive game called I Memorize, which includes all of the passages included in the Ruhi books. For example, quote #14 from Ruhi Book 1: "Be not content with showing friendship in words alone, let your heart burn with loving kindness for all who may cross your path." Abdu'l-Baha, Paris Talks pg. 16
